Dr Yan FENG graduated from Peking University in 1987 and later earned a Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Michigan. She conducted research on colorectal cancer at the University of Michigan Medical School and New York–Presbyterian Hospital affiliated with Cornell University, publishing several academic papers.

She completed a three-year paediatric residency at Nassau County University Hospital in New York, obtained a New York State medical license, and American Board of Paediatrics certification. Dr Yan later practiced in a private clinic on Long Island and served as an attending physician at North Shore University Hospital and Winthrop University Hospital. Before joining Beijing Raffles Hospital, Dr Yan was a Senior Paediatrician at Beijing United Family Hospital. With over 20 years of clinical experience in both the United States and China, she specializes in paediatric and adolescent nutrition, growth and development, common childhood illnesses, asthma prevention and treatment, and adolescent health issues. Dr Feng Yan is a member of the American Academy of Paediatrics. She previously served as English editor for the Chinese Journal of Neonatal Paediatrics and has published the book The Secrets of Parenting.
