Dr Tong received his medical bachelor degree from West China University of Medical Science in 1991.
Dr Tong has practiced as a paediatrics surgeon for more than 30 years and also previously engaged in research work on Paediatrics Surgery in Ruijin Hospital and Shanghai children medical centre. He has been serving as an associate chief physician of Paediatrics Surgery Department in Ruijin Hospital since 2003, turn to Shanghai Children Medical Central in January 2016, then joined Raffles Hospital Shanghai as a Consultant Doctor in September 2023.
