Dr Gao graduated from Anhui Medical School in 1995 and received his master degree from Nanjing Medical School Department of Gastroenterology in 2013.

Dr. Gao has 28 years of clinical experience in internal medicine, having studied in the Department of Gastroenterology of Peking University Third Hospital, the Digestive Endoscopy Center of Nanjing Gu Lou Hospital, and the Endoscopy Center of Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital. He has been engaged in the research of endoscopic treatment of liver cirrhosis, portal hypertension, esophageal and gastric varices in the Second People's Hospital of Fuyang, and has been engaged in the research of traditional Chinese medicine prevention and treatment of colon polyps in Shanghai Minhang District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has served as the Deputy Chief Physician of the Department of Gastroenterology at Nanjing Tongren Hospital since 2010, the Director of the Department of Gastroenterology at Shanghai Minhang District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2012, and has joined Raffles Hospital Shanghai as a consultant physician in the Department of Gastroenterology in 2023.

Dr. Gao serves as a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Alliance for the Multidisciplinary Diagnosis and Treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, an executive director of the Digestive Endoscopy Association of the World Association of Endoscopists, a member of the Second Committee of the Digestive Disease Professional Committee of the China Association of Non-government Medical Institutions, a member of the Gastroenterology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, a member of the Digestive Endoscopy Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association, and has published academic papers in core journals in China.


Clinical Interest

  • Dr Gao’s specialty and interests include the diagnosis and treatment of esophageal, gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases. He specialises in digestive endoscopy and minimally invasive treatment techniques, including endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and treatment (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound technology (EUS) and capsule endoscopy (CE), etc., especially in the field of fine endoscopy and endoscopic resection of early gastrointestinal cancer and precancerous lesions. He also has extensive experience in endoscopic banding and sclerotherapy treatment of liver cirrhosis varicose veins and internal hemorrhoids.
